I became interested in photography when I was a teenager. In the beginning I had a very basic camera which I used to take pictures of my friends and of places to which I traveled.
My interest in photography expanded when I acquired a better camera and learned to develop black and white film and print negatives in the darkroom. I studied and applied various darkroom techniques such as toning and solarization of prints. I also experimented with infrared film and high contrast film, long exposures, and night photography. You will see some of the results in the photographs on this website.
Despite the recent conversion of photography to digital, I continue to find inspiration in working with film and in the darkroom. The slower, more contemplative pace of the work is immensely satisfying. The photographs on this site were taken with either a Canon 35 mm or a Hasselblad medium format film camera. The black and white photographs were scanned from prints which I developed in the darkroom. The color photographs were scanned from transparencies. No Photoshop or other software was used to alter or enhance the images. They are as close as possible to the original images from which they were scanned.
I hope you enjoy your visit to my website and return from time to time to view new work.
